Job Description:

U.S. Canvas & Awning, a premier Houston-based awning company has an opening for an Installer with talent, initiative, and drive to join their team and have a development role in their growing organization. As a leader in the industry, we have a family-owned and operated environment, and strive to provide the best in quality products, and superior fabrication along with installation services driven by a client-centric approach. We are looking for highly motivated individuals with a background in construction to install our custom-made products with quality and assurance. This will involve going on job sites and representing the company in a professional manner as well as assisting the in-house team with parts of the manufacturing process. We are a background-friendly team that believes in second chances.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Install awnings/canopies (commercial/residential).

  • Take measurements and read production/installation sheets

  • Work with hand and power tools

  • Can climb ladders with ease while carrying up to 50 lbs.

  • Work from an extension ladder while drilling, hammering, tightening bolts, caulking, lifting, and tying rope.

  • Wear safety equipment including steel-toed shoes at all times

  • Install awnings, canopies, shade sails, carports, walkways, shade structures, aluminum overheads, etc. on commercial and residential buildings/sites

  • Assist with the construction and assembly of awnings

  • Measuring awnings, canopies, and problem-solving during projects

  • Install fabric covers on awnings, complete units metal frame, and covers

  • Other tasks as assigned in warehouse/fabrication

  • Load and unload trucks/trailers along with travel to/from jobsite

Key Requirements / Competencies

  • 2 years of construction work experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of general construction and a willingness to learn every day.

  • Valid Driver’s License is required with reliable transportation

  • Expert with common devices (i.e., wedge anchors, screws, epoxy bolts)

  • Use power tools (i.e., drill, chop saw, rotary hammer)

  • Accurately measure and interpret measurements

  • Carry 50lbs up a ladder of any size with assistance

  • Work solo on a ladder of any size

  • Work both independently and cooperatively - Team Player

  • Follow instructions and give clear directions

  • Prioritize and multitask ongoing projects

  • Be on time – all the time!

  • Must fluidly speak English

  • Follow safety guidelines and protocol

Position is Monday through Friday 6:00 am to 3:00 pm but not limited to this schedule.
