Operations Lead

Department: Front Office 

Salary: $18 to $25 hourly plus monthly discretionary bonus based on experience and qualifications.

Job Description:

U.S. Canvas & Awning, a premier Houston-based awning company has an opening for an Operations Lead with talent, initiative, and drive to join their team and have a development role in their growing organization. As a leader in the industry, we have a family-owned and operated environment, and strive to provide the best in quality products, and superior fabrication along with installation services driven by a client-centric approach. We are looking for a role player who is familiar with the manufacturing and production industry that can collaborate with management and the sales team to coordinate project logistics with the production team to ensure deadlines and requirements are met. This includes hands-on work with the production team, visual skills with the graphics team, and scheduling and reporting skills with the management team. We are a background-friendly team that believes in second chances.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Managing production flow and quality control in productions while optimizing workflow

  • Coordination of interdepartmental communication to ensure timely job progress and completion

  • Increase the productivity of our production and operations team

  • Facilitate new and current systems in inventory, warehousing, and distribution to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness 

  • Supervision and coordination of daily operations of fabrication/welding, sewing, and installation departments

  • Ensure employee work is effective and efficient in their duties and fully understand appropriate procedures     

  • Assists in the designs of project concepts and products to best fit client's needs

  • Review documents and drawings (CAD or hand) to ensure the accuracy of measurements, materials, etc.

  • Inspect blueprints of construction projects to identify any dimensional discrepancies and ensure accurate placement of products for the project.

  • Work closely with the Design team to provide sketches and input needed for drawing the layout and marking the location of essential aspects of the construction project

  • Assist design and sales team on bids based on manufacturing knowledge and job details.

  • Conduct continual analysis and evaluation of team performance and quality control

  • Promote positive values within U.S. Canvas & Awning to ensure that all staff uphold the highest standards

Key Requirements / Competencies

  • Experience in the production industry with knowledge or experience of sewing, fabrication and welding

  • Experience taking lead role in projects and delegating duties appropriately.

  • Stay abreast with new products, industry changes and professional practices.

  • Strong financial and metrics-driven approach to production management

  • Professional etiquette in the office and with customers.

  • Ability to visualize CAD or hand drawings.

  • Able to complete projects in a timely manner.

  • Excellent communication (oral/written) and customer service skills.

  • strong critical thinking skills

  • Strong organizational skills with ability to multitask.

Position is Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm but not limited to this schedule.
