Sewer / Seamstress

Department: Production 

Wage: $15.00 & up (depending on experience)

Job Description:

U.S. Canvas & Awning, a premier Houston-based awning company has an opening for a Sewer/Seamstress with talent, initiative, and drive to join their team and have a development role in their growing organization. As a leader in the industry, we have a family-owned and operated environment, and strive to provide the best in quality products, and superior fabrication along with installation services driven by a client-centric approach. This includes sewing a variety of fabrics in a high-quality and efficient manner. We are a background-friendly team that believes in second chances.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Follow material and job specifications to produce high-quality products

  • Sew various types of fabric into awning and canopy shapes.

  • Precisely measure and cut fabric based on the need

  • Produce high-quality seams.

 

Key Requirements / Competencies

  • ​Sewing experience in manufacturing background

  • Pass onsite sew test to demonstrate skills and use of equipment

  • Must be able to read and accurately measure within 1/16.”

  • Basic mathematical skills such as addition, subtraction, fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to perform precise measurements using a tape measure, square, protractor, and digital levels.

  • Come in with a willingness to learn everyday

  • Follow safety rules and work in a professional manner.

Position is Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm but not limited to this schedule.
